When spectators come out to watch the Rider University women’s tennis team compete, you can always tell the first-timers. They are the ones doing a ‘double-take’ at the first doubles team of Devin and Caitlin Crawbuck (Jacobstown, N.J./Northern Burlington Regional), identical twin sisters. “I have a lot of trouble telling them apart,” said Rider head coach Ed Torres. “When they are together the only way I can tell is that Devin is a little taller, but if I’m just talking to one of them, I’m not always sure who it is.” |

The Broncs swept FDU Tuesday, winning 96 of 99 games. “It was a pretty easy match today,” said Rider head coach Ed Torres. “They didn’t even have a team last year. This program was resurrected from the ashes.” |

The come-from-behind victory is one of the most exciting aspects in all of sports. “It takes a lot of guts to trail early and come back and win,” said Rider head tennis coach and Rider Athletics hall of famer Ed Torres. On Saturday, the doubles team of junior Kelly Chouinard (White Hall, MD/Hereford) and senior Logan Kapinus (Aston, PA/Sun Valley) trailed 5-2 before coming back for an 8-6 victory over MAAC powerhouse Marist. |

After a long day of indoor tennis, there was a long drive home from Jersey City to Lawrenceville. For Rider University freshman Danielle Morse (Edison, N.J./Hopewell Valley), the commute wasn’t bad. She’s used to it. Morse, who won at fourth singles in three sets and also won at third doubles, commuted 40 minutes a day to Hopewell Valley High School, and currently commutes 30 minutes a day to Rider. |

In college tennis, an estimated 75 percent of all matches are completed in two sets. “I think it is because in tennis, once the momentum starts going in one direction, it is so hard to change it,” said Rider senior Mike Greenberg of Newtown, PA, who won at third singles in a rare, three-set match against Siena Saturday. |
