BRIDGEPORT, CT—The Broncs lost a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game against Fairfield at Bridgeport’s Arena at Harbor Yards Saturday. “Fairfield is a good team, but we made them look like a really good team today,” said Rider head coach Tori Harrison.

Holding a 24-23 lead, Fairfield (6-6, 3-0 MAAC) out-scored Rider (1-11, 0-4 MAAC) 15-0 over the final 5:10 of the first half to take a 39-23 lead at halftime. “We just lost our focus,” said Harrison.

Senior guard Cara Murphy led Fairfield with 19 points and eight assists. Sophomore guard Sabra Wrice added 16 points and six rebounds for the Stags.

Freshman Shaunice Parker (Waldorf, MD/West Lake) led the Broncs with 12 points, making all three of her foul shots. “Shaunice was a bright spot today, but you need more than just one bright spot when you are on the road in the MAAC,” Harrison said.

Sophomore Janele Henderson (Brooklyn, NY/Bishop Loughlin) scored all 10 of her points in the first half, and played just four minutes in the second half.  “Janele was scoring for us early, but the offensive end was the only end she was playing well,” said Harrison.

Senior Christine Catalanotto (Flushing, NY/Christ the King) added eight points and four assists for the Broncs.

Freshman Danielle Costantino (Norristown, PA/Archbishop Carroll) added five points and four rebounds in 23 minutes off the bench.

Rider plays its final non-conference game of the season Tuesday at the University of Pennsylvania. “Hopefully we will come out ready to play on Tuesday,” Harrison said.
