BETHLEHEM, PA—The Rider men were 18th of 28 teams and the Rider women were 26th of 26 teams at the 2005 NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Saturday, hosted by Lehigh University. Georgetown won the men’s race, and Princeton won the women’s race. “The men raced very well,” said Acting Head Coach Rob Pasquariello. “The 18th place was a tremendous improvement over past years at this event.”

For the Rider men, sophomore John Smith (Cliffwood Beach/Matawan) placed 46th of 195 runners, covering the 10,000 meter course in 31:43. “Last year Smith finished 91st in this race so he made a huge leap,” said Pasquariello. “He really ran well.”

For the Rider women, freshman Andrea Campbell (Somers Point/Mainland Regional) finished 107th among the 182 runners, covering the 6,000 meter course in 23:17.1. “Andrea ran really well, she raced hard,” said Pasquariello.  “Our team youth showed, but we are so young that the future really looks bright. The underclassmen stepped up al year.”

Also for the men, sophomore Jeff Stead (Fairless Hills, PA/Pennsbury) finished 100th overall in 32:47.1, freshman Matt Dahl (West Keansburg/Raritan) was 130th in 33:50, sophomore Paul Matuszak (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) finished 133rd in 33:53.4, senior Matt Ciociola (Clementon/Bishop Eustace) was 142nd in 34:12, freshman Albert Taylor (Sprata, N.J./Pope John XXIII  ) was 156th in 34:37, and sophomore Evan Chromczak (Hellertown, Pa./Saucon Valley) was 158th in 34:42.

For the women, freshman Rebecca Riedel (Milton, DE/Cape Henlopen) was 154th in 24:51.6, junior Laura Carpenter (Englishtown/St. John Vianney) was 156th in 24:56.1, freshman Megan Crowe (Philadelphia, PA/St. Hubert’s) finished 162nd in 25:32.3, sophomore Danielle Reardon (Towaco, N.J./Montville) was 166th in 25:57.6, senior Beth Bond (Warminster, PA/Archbishop Wood) was 169th in 26:10.5, and junior Jennifer Lee (Mt.
