MAAC Basketball Media Day
Thompson, Muniz Honored

NEW YORK, NY—The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference held its annual Basketball Media Day at Madison Square Garden Tuesday. Rider’s Jason Thompson and Edwin Muniz were named to the Preseason All-MAAC Team.

The Rider men’s team was picked to finish fifth in the 10-team league with 55 points, one point shy of Marist at fourth place.  Iona is picked to win the MAAC in 2006.

The Rider women were picked to finish tenth. Canisius was picked to win the MAAC women’s title.

For the Rider men, sophomore Jason Thompson (Mt. Laurel/Lenape) was named to the Second Team All-MAAC preseason squad, and senior Edwin Muniz (Passaic) was named to the Third Team.

Thompson was a member of the MAAC All-Rookie team last year and was a CollegeInsider.com Freshman All-American.  Muniz was second on the Rider squad in scoring, rebounding and assists last season.

Rider begins the preseason Saturday, November 12. The women host the NY/NJ Gazelles at 12 noon, and the men host Albright College at 3:00 pm, in an exhibition doubleheader.

The 2005-2006 season begins November 18, with the women hosting Maine (5:30 pm) and the men hosting Bucknell (8:00 pm) in Alumni Gymnasium.
