MAAC Honors Rider's Riverso
LAWRENCEVILLE--Daniel Riverso, a junior on the Rider University soccer team, was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for all games played the week of October 24-30.
A junior goalkeeper from Williamstown, Riverso led Rider (4-9-4) to a 2-0-1 week as the Broncs kept their hopes alive for a MAAC Championship Tournament berth.
With one game remaining (at Loyola) in the regular season, the Broncs are 3-3-2 in the MAAC and trail fourth place Niagara by one point in the standings. The top four teams advance to the playoffs at Fairfield on November 11-13.
For the week, Riverso posted two shutouts and now has four on the season and six in his career. This marks the third time in his career that Riverso has been honored by the MAAC.
For the season, Riverso leads the MAAC with 109 saves and is averaging 6.41 saves per game.
In Rider's 2-0 win over Iona on October 24, Riverso made 10 saves.
In Rider's 0-0 tie at Manhattan on October 28, Riverso made six saves.
In Rider’s 3-2 win at Saint Peter’s on October 30, Riverso made nine saves.
Rider travels to Baltimore, Maryland to face Loyola on Saturday.
