LAWRENCEVILLE—Helping. Whether it be helping his team win a tennis match, or helping the sick in a hospital as a nurse, junior Ragdee Saberon (Berlin, N.J./Overbrook) is there to help.

The Broncs ended the fall season with a victory over La Salle Sunday.

For the Rider men (4-8), Saberon won at first singles and first doubles.  Wins are often hard to come by when you play at the top of the ladder, always facing the other team’s top players. “I’ll play at number one, I’ll play at number six, it doesn’t matter to me,” said Saberon, a biopsychology major who wants to be a nurse when he graduates.  “I’ll do whatever I need to do to help the team win. The team ‘W’ is what is important.”

“Both of my parents are nurses,” Saberon said. “My father is an ‘O.R’ nurse and by mother is an RN. I’ve always wanted to be a nurse. I like helping others, I was brought up that way, and it is also a good paying job that is high in demand. No matter where I live, they will most likely need nurses there.”

“Ragdee played very well today,” said Rider head coach Ed Torres. “He played a very good player and won easily.  He has all of the ground strokes, a full array of shots, and he moves his opponents around very well.”

Also for the Rider men, senior Chris Stanco (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown) won at second singles and first doubles, and freshman Casey Jedlinski (Manalapan) won at third singles and second doubles.

For the Rider women (8-4), junior Kelly Chouinard (White Hall, Md./Hereford) won the deciding match at sixth singles, so the doubles was not needed as darkness approached. The twins, juniors Caitlin and Devin Crawbuck (Jacobstown, N.J./Northern Burlington Regional), also won their singles matches, as did senior Dana Previti (Egg Harbor Twp.).

The Broncs are now done for the fall. The spring season begins in March. “I like the spring season so much more,” said Saberon. “I don’t do so well in the cold weather. Give me that warm summer sun anytime.”

The warm weather helps when playing tennis. Saberon helps too, whether on the tennis court or in the hospital.
