LAWRENCEVILLE—The Broncs played like the weather on Saturday.  “We were kind of dreary today, much like the weather,” said Rider head coach Emily Ahlquist.

The Broncs lost a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference match to Saint Peter’s Saturday. Saint Peter’s won by the scores of 30-27, 30-24, 30-27. “We were very flat, very unemotional, very slow today, and I’m not sure why,” said Ahlquist.

One bright spot for the Broncs MAAC was senior Stefanie Lombardo (New Castle, Pa/Laurel), who compiled 13 kills and now has 1,002 kills for her career. On Friday Lombardo broke the 1,000 dig mark. “Stef had her moments today,” Ahlquist said.

Senior Embrey Minor (Davidsonville, Md/Bowie) had 24 assists, senior Kristine Dormer (Bowie, Md/Elizabeth Seton) had 12 kills and 14 digs and freshman Lacey Johnson (Aurora, Colo./Grandview) had nine kills and 14 digs. “Kristine played pretty well, consistent, and Lacey played very well. Lacey was probably our most consistent player today,” said Ahlquist.

Rider travels to Fairfield Friday. “When we play with energy it is a beautiful thing, but when we play like today it isn’t very pretty,” said Ahlquist.  “We’re going back to the drawing board, back to basics, trying to get some enthusiasm and turn this around.”
