PRINCETON—In preparation for the upcoming Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship tournament, Rider scheduled one of the toughest teams in the area to play, Princeton.  “When this game was scheduled six months ago, it was to prepare us for the season finale against Loyola and for the MAAC tournament, and I think it did that,” said Rider head coach Kevin Long.

Princeton out-shot Rider 21-1, scoring three first half goals on its way to a 4-0 victory.

“I was proud of our effort,” said Long.  “We could have easily given up at half time, having played three games in the last four days, but we didn’t.  We showed great heart in not giving up.”

Junior Hannah Harris (Denville/Morris Knolls), who compiled a shut out in her first collegiate start on Tuesday, made her second start Wednesday evening and made one save while allowing three first-half goals.  Princeton is very fast, and we had a hard time keeping up with their pace in the first half,” Long said.

Sophomore goalkeeper Kim Carter (Chantilly, VA) played the second half and made five saves, allowing one goal.  “With a young team, this was a chance to get another game against a quality team under our belts,” Long said.  “We found some areas we need to work on before Loyola and before the MAAC tournament.”

The Broncs (2-13-2) close out the regular season at defending champion Loyola Saturday, before heading to Disney World for the 10-team MAAC Championship Tournament October 26-30.
