LAWRENCEVILLE-- The Broncs lost a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference match to Loyola Saturday. “We had a real nice comeback in the third and fourth games,” said Rider head coach Emily Ahlquist.

Loyola (5-15, 1-0 MAAC) won by the scores of  30-28, 30-25, 15-30, 30-28. “In the fourth game we held off eight match points,” Ahlquist said.  “Our concentration, defense and poise were amazing.”

For Rider (7-13, 0-1 MAAC), senior Kristine Dormer (Bowie, Md/Elizabeth Seton) compiled 13 kills and 13 assists.

Senior Embrey Minor (Davidsonville, Md/Bowie) led Rider with 28 assists, while senior Stefanie Lombardo (New Castle, Pa/Laurel) added 18 digs and 10 kills, freshman Lacey Johnson (Aurora, Colo./Grandview) had 11 kills and 13 digs, and junior Megan Smith (Webster, NY/Webster) added 11 kills.

“Our serve receive was good, and our passes were on target today,” said Ahlquist. “Not one ball all match landed without a body on it. Loyola is better than last year, and they just came out on top today. On any other day, who knows? This was two evenly matched teams playing really fun volleyball today.”

Rider hosts Providence Sunday at 2pm.
