Thompson Honored by MAAC

LAWRENCEVILLE—Rider University senior Jason Thompson was named the co-winner of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Player of the Week award for all games played the first week of 2008.  It marks the third time this season Thompson has won the award.

In two games last week Thompson compiled 44 points, 26 rebounds and eight assists in just 62 minutes of action.  He compiled a game-high 26 points and 11 rebounds against Marist and was a perfect 10 for 10 from foul line in the win over Canisius. He grabbed 15 rebounds in just 26 minutes against Canisius, compiling his ninth ‘double-double’ of the season and the 39^th of his career.

Thompson leads the MAAC and ranks sixth in the nation in rebounds (11.3).  He ranks 12^th in Division I in blocked shots (2.9) and is 31^st in the nation in scoring (20.2).

Thompson shares the MAAC Player of the Week award with the national scoring leader, Charron Fisher of Niagara.

Rider (9-6, 2-2 MAAC) plays at Iona Friday evening.
