Rider Athletes of the Month
Sepulveda, Thompson Honored for December

LAWRENCEVILLE—Amanda Sepulveda of the women’s basketball team and Jason Thompson of the men’s basketball team were named the Rider University Athletes of the Month for all contests in December.

Sepulveda, a sophomore guard from Perth Amboy (Hun School), averaged 10.8 points and 2.3 rebounds in December, while compiling a team-high 20 assists in six games and just 11 turnovers at the point.

Thompson, a senior forward from Mt. Laurel (Lenape), averaged 19.5 points and 9.7 rebounds in December, compiling 10 blocks and 12 steals in six games.  Thompson was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Player of the Week in December, and led Rider to a 4-2 month with three consecutive road wins, including a victory at Rutgers.

Sepulveda led Rider to a win over Princeton by scoring seven of Rider’s final nine points of the game, including a three-point buzzer beater in the 45-42 victory. She also led Rider to an overtime win against Army with 13 points and five assists.

The Rider men host Marist in a MAAC game Friday at 7pm. The Rider women travel to Iona for a MAAC game Sunday at 2pm.
