LAWRENCEVILLE—Amanda Burke of the swimming & diving team and Jason Thompson of the basketball team have been named the Rider University Athletes of the Month for November.

Burke, a junior diver from Churchville, PA (William Tennent), was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Diver of the Week four times this season, three in November.

Thompson, a senior forward from Mt. Laurel (Lenape), was named the MAAC Player of the Week, the Mid-Majority.com National Player of the Week and was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Old Spice Classic.

Burke won both the one-meter and the three-meter dives in all three meets in November, against Marist, Lehigh and Pennsylvania, and against Delaware and La Salle.

At the ‘Big Al’ Invitational, hosted by Princeton University, Burke won the one-meter and placed second in the three-meter, competing against Brown, Bucknell, Columbia, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Washington State and the host Tigers.

Thompson averaged 20 points and 12 rebounds per game in November as Rider began the season with a 5-3 record.  Thompson was named to the five-man all-tournament team at the eight-team Old Spice Classic along with Courtney Fells of North Carolina State, Michael Beasley of Kansas State, Will Thomas of George Mason and Scottie Reynolds of Villanova.

Thompson is currently second in career rebounds, just 19 away from the Rider record that stood since 1977. Thompson is also eighth in career scoring (1,503) and 87 points shy of seventh.
