Junior Harris Mansell (Cheltenham, PA/Cheltenham) scored 23 points, including eight foul shots in the final minute, to lead Rider to victory over Binghamton Saturday afternoon. Mansell made all 10 of his foul shots in the game. Senior Jason Thompson (Mt. Laurel/Lenape) compiled 15 points and 11 rebounds for the Broncs (5-3), who remain undefeated at home (4-0) this season. The ‘double-double’ for Thompson was his fifth of the season and 35th of his career. Against NJIT sophomore Ryan Thompson (Mt. Laurel/Lenape) compiled 20 points and six rebounds, and his older brother, Jason Thompson added 17 points and 17 rebounds. With the victory Rider improved to 3-0 at home this season. Holding a 49-41 lead, Rider went on an 11-2 run, six points by Jason Thompson, to take a 60-43 lead with 9:30 left to play. Rider went on a 14-4 run, six points by Ryan Thompson, to take a 17-7 lead mid-way through the first half, and led 33-24 at half time. Rider never trailed in the contest. At the Old Spice Classic against Penn State Jason Thompson, Ryan Thompson, Harris Mansell and freshman Patrick Mansell (Cheltenham, PA) combined for 70 of Rider’s 82 points. In the three-game tournament Jason Thompson compiled 69 points, 32 rebounds and nine blocked shots to earn All-Tournament team honors.

Despite 21 points from senior Janele Henderson (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Loughlin), the Broncs lost to Towson Sunday afternoon. Rider led 65-64 before Towson (3-2) went on an 8-0 run, making six of seven foul shots, to take a 72-65 lead with 20 seconds remaining. That was the 11th and final lead change of the game. Rider (3-4) trailed 53-46 before going on a 10-1 run, using a three-point field goal by freshman Cintella Spotwood (Trenton/Trenton Central) to tie the score at 54-54, and Rider led 56-54 with 7:30 remaining. Spotwood finished with 10 points. Rider junior Shaunice Parker (Waldorf, Md./West Lake) added 12 points and seven rebounds. Rider jumped out to a 15-7 lead in the first five minutes of the game, seven points by sophomore Tammy Myers (Willingboro), who finished with nine points. At Penn Shaunice Parker compiled 16 points and nine rebounds. Rider cut the lead to 61-58 on a lay-up by Tammy Meyers with 40 seconds left but that was as close as the Broncs would get. Meyers finished with seven points. Janele Henderson had 15 points and two steals with sophomore Amanda Sepulveda (Perth Amboy, N.J./Hun School) adding 11 points. Against Central Florida Rider used a lay-up by freshman Shannon Ferguson (Fort Washington, Pa./Upper Dublin) with 27 seconds left to break a 73-73 tie and give the Broncs their third home win of the season. Ferguson finished with eight points, going a perfect three for three from the field and two for two from the free throw line while adding seven rebounds. Sophomore Amanda Sepulveda (Perth Amboy/Hun School) led five Broncs in double-digits with a career-high 23 points along with four assists, including an assist that setup Ferguson for her game-winning shot.

Junior Doug Umbehauer (Shamong, N.J./Lenape), the ninth seed at 184 pounds, placed fourth at the 26th Annual Cliff Keen Las Vegas Collegiate Wrestling Invitational this weekend, where 13 of the top 25 teams in the nation competed in the 48-team field. Umbehauer was 5-2 in the prestigious, two-day tournament, defeating the third, fifth and eighth seeds, losing only to the top and fourth seeds. Senior T.J. Morrison (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cedar Cliff) moved up a weight class to heavyweight, and defeated Roger Vukobratovich of Purdue by a major decision 10-2 in the opening pigtail round and then defeated the sixth seed, 11th ranked Mark Ellis of Missouri 3-1 in the first round. Morrison lost to the 11th seed, John Wise of Illinois 7-3 in the second round. Freshman 125 Mitch Fenton (Whitemarsh, Md./Archbishop Curley) lost 4-1 to the top ranked 125 in the nation, Paul Donohoe of Nebraska, in the first round. In the consolations, Fenton defeated Dan Bishop of Buffalo 3-1 and Cody Grant of Wyoming 1-0 before losing 6-4 to the 11th seed, Ben Kjar of Utah Valley. Sophomore 157 Rob Morrison (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cedar Cliff) pinned Trey Saxon of New Mexico in 2:28 in the opening pigtail round before losing to the ninth seed, 17th ranked Jeff Marsh of Michigan 5-3. In the consolations Rob Morrison lost 5-4 to Justin Gaethje of Northern Colorado.

At the ‘Big Al’ Invitational, hosted by Princeton University junior Priscilla Modrov (Smithtown, N.Y./Hauppauge) set Rider records in the 100 fly and 200 fly and sophomore Kellyanne Tomasula (Sussex, N.J./Vernon Township) broke the Rider record in the 100 back. Modrov was sixth in the 200 fly with a new Rider record time of 2:03.20, less than one second away from an NCAA consideration cut time. Modrov set the 100 fly record with a time of 56.58 with Tomasula also re-writing the record books with a 100 back time of 56.89. The top performance of the meet belonged to junior diver Amanda Burke (Churchville, Pa./William Tennent) who won the one-meter (276.80) after placing second in the three-meter (267.55).
