Rider Sweeps MAAC Awards, Again

LAWRENCEVILLE—For the second consecutive week, members of the Rider University Swimming & Diving teams won all four of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference weekly awards. “It is always good to see them be recognized by the conference for their performances,” said Rider head coach Steve Fletcher.

From the Rider men’s team, junior Josh Rosenbluth (Lawrenceville, N.J./Lawrence) was named the MAAC Swimmer of the Week for the third time this season and senior Dylan Korn (Hawthorne, N.Y./Westlake) was named the MAAC Diver of the Week for the second time this year.

From the Rider women’s team, senior Priscilla Modrov (Smithtown, N.Y./Hauppauge) was named the MAAC Swimmer of the Week for the third time, and junior Amanda Burke (Churchville, Pa./William Tennent) was named the MAAC Diver of the Week for the third time.

Modrov won the 400 individual medley (4:36.73), the 200 butterfly (2:08.23) and the 100 butterfly (58.78) in Rider’s win over Lehigh and loss to Penn.  “Priscilla has added so much to our team environment both as a trainer and as a competitor,” Fletcher said.  “She sets a good example in competition and she never backs down mentally or physically to athletes that may appear to be better on paper.  That is the great example that she sets for the team.”

Burke won both the one-meter (283.05) and three-meter dive (267.10). “Amanda is on a mission to qualify for NCAA Nationals,” said diving coach Dennis Ceppa.  “She has a long road ahead of her but she has set her goals and she is going to try to achieve them.  She sets a great example by showing up early for practice and workouts and she has really helped our younger divers.  She puts 110 percent in everything she does and I could not ask for a better role model.”

Rosenbluth won both the 100 backstroke (52.59) and the 200 backstroke (1:56.88) in Rider’s win over Lehigh and loss to Penn, and Korn won the one-meter dive (277.95).

Rider competes at LaSalle with Delaware November 17.
