Nine Broncs All-Academic

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla.—Nine members of the Rider University men’s and women’s soccer teams were named to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference All-Academic team.

On the men’s team, which was announced Tuesday at the MAAC Championship tournament held at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex, were senior goalkeeper Jesse Forsythe, junior AJ Parillo and senior Lee Tomasso.

On the women’s All-Academic team were seniors Stephanie Madden, senior Michelle Ripoll, juniors Erin Mahar and Lauren Mahar, and sophomores Kate Murphy and Allison Brody.

Forsythe (Costa Mesa, CA) owned a 3.63 grade point average as a Political Science major.  Parillo (South River) compiled a 3.65 grade point average while majoring in Global Business and Tomasso (Westfield) has a 3.78 grade point average as an Accounting major.

Madden (Fair Haven) has a 3.33 grade point average as an Elementary Education/Journalism major. Ripoll owns a 3.265 grade point average while majoring in Biopsychology.  The Mahar twin sisters from Barnegat are both Elementary Education/Psychology majors. Erin owns a 3.37 grade point average while Lauren has a 3.32 grade point average.  Murphy (Holland, PA) has a 3.70 grade point average while majoring in Marketing. Brody (Alexandria, VA) owns a 3.27 grade point average as a Business major.

The Rider men’s team (7-9-2) plays Siena in the first round of the 10-team MAAC tournament Wednesday at 2pm. If the Broncs win they will take on the top seed, Loyola, Thursday at 1:45 in the quarter-finals.

The women’s team finished with a 5-11-3 record.
