Field Hockey

Against Lock Haven in the NEC Title Game junior Tricia Crotty (Lewistown, Pa./Indian Valley), a Second Team All-NEC forward, gave Rider a 1-0 lead on Rider’s first and only shot of the game 26:40 into the first half. The goal was Crotty’s team-high tenth of the season and 32nd of her career, eighth highest ever at Rider. In the semi-finals against Sacred Heart freshman Amanda Barretta (Roseland, N.J./West Essex) scored her third goal of the season with 15:23 remaining for the game-winner. Rider senior goalie Jen LoCastro (Cherry Hill, N.J./Camden Catholic) made two saves to pick up her 11th win of the season.  Rider out-shot Sacred Heart 13-6 in the game and held a 6-5 penalty corner advantage. Crotty and Walker also scored.

Against Canisius freshman Jim Bradley (Sewell, N.J./Washington Township) scored two goals to lead Rider to a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference victory in the regular season finale. Bradley collected a loose ball and scored just 2:03 into the game.  Canisius (6-11, 5-4 MAAC) came right back and scored two minutes later on a goal by Chris Carpenter. Bradley scored his fifth goal of the season off of a crossing pass from freshman Juan Arana (Ocean, N.J./Ocean Township) for a 2-1 lead in the ninth minute of the second half.. Senior defender Mark Ockenhouse (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East) scored his first goal of the season on Senior Day to seal the victory with 25 minutes left to play. Rider out-shot Canisius 15-12.  Rider senior goalkeeper Jesse Forsythe (Costa Mesa, Calif./Mater Dei) made five saves. Against Niagara Junior Anthony Gilbert (Jamison, Pa./Central Bucks South) set up two Rider goals. Gilbert’s crossing pass set up junior AJ Parillo (South River) with his third goal of the season mid-way through the first half. On a free kick Gilbert found sophomore Nico Tramontana (Vineland/Sacred Heart) all alone at the 18, who drilled a left-footed shot in for the insurance goal with 20 minutes left to play. The goal was the fifth of the year for Tramontana, highest on the team. Junior Randall Zapolski (Lawrence) made seven saves.

At the MAAC Championships junior Kelly Wojciehowski (Fair Haven/Rumson Fair Haven) placed first for the Broncs, 13th overall, covering the 6k race in 23:26.2 to earn All-MAAC honors. Senior John Smith (Cliffwood Beach/Matawan) placed first for the Broncs, 14th overall, covering the 8k course in 26:07.8.  It marked the third time Smith earned All-MAAC honors. Also for the Rider men, freshman Christian Gonzalez (Somerset/Franklin Twp.) placed 16th in 26:14.4 and junior Matt Dahl (West Keansburg/Raritan) was 18th in 26:42.3.

Against Fairfield in the season finale freshman Kara Perkoski (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) took a pass from senior Amy Vinarsky (Cranberry Twp., Pa./Seneca Valley) and scored third goal of the season to cut the lead to 4-1 with 20 minutes left to play. Rider freshman goalkeeper Alex Post (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks West) made seven saves.

Swimming & Diving

Against Marist freshman Brianna Burns (Chestnut Ridge, N.Y./Spring Valley) won the 200 free (1:55.58, 50 free (25.09) and 100 free (54.03) with junior Priscilla Modrov (Smithtown, N.Y./Hauppauge) winning the 200 butterfly (2:05.82), 200 breaststroke (2:28.68) and 200 IM with a Coppola pool record time of 2:08.20. For the Rider men, junior Josh Rosenbluth (Lawrenceville, N.J./Lawrence) won the 100 back (51.89), 200 back (1:56.05) and the 200 IM (1:57.48) with sophomore Scott Player (Chino Hills, Calif./Ruben S. Ayala) winning the 100 free (48.43) and 100 butterfly (51.86). Junior diver Amanda Burke (Churchville, Pa./William Tennent) won the one-meter (254.10) and three-meter (289.95) with sophomore Kellyanne Tomasula (Sussex, N.J./Vernon Township) winning the 100 back (57.87). Also for the Rider men, senior diver Dylan Korn (Hawthorne, N.Y./Westlake) won the one-meter (275.40) and three-meter (277.13) with freshman Drew Modrov (Smithtown, N.Y./Hauppauge) winning the 50 free (21.54).

Volleyball

Against Iona junior Lacey Johnson (Aurora, Colo./Grandview) (23 digs, 16 kills), freshman Katelyn Thompson (Tucson, Ariz./Catalina Foothills) (14 digs, 12 kills) and sophomore Brittany Hayes (Mitchelleville, Md./Elizabeth Seton) (16 kills, 10 digs) each had ‘double-doubles’ with seven Rider players overall reaching double-digit dig totals. Also for Rider freshman Elyse Grassmuck (Seguin, Texas/La Vernia) had 43 assists and 19 digs.

At Saint Peter’s junior Casey Jedlinski (Manalapan) posted a win at first singles and sophomore Will Haight (Turnersville/Washington Township) won at third singles. Against Saint Francis Jedlinski won at first singles and teamed with freshman Josh Rultenberg (Lafayette Hill, Pa./Plymouth-Whitemarsh) to win at first doubles.  Rultenberg won at second singles. Sophomore Marc Ashed (Vineland) won at fourth singles and teamed with Will Haight to win at second doubles.
