Junior Lauren Mahar (Barnegat, N.J./Colonia) scored her first goal of the season just 25 seconds into overtime to give Rider a victory at Delaware State Tuesday night. Mahar, a defender, took a free kick from 40 yards out to win the game on the golden goal. Junior Kayla Devlin (Clifton, N.J./Clifton) scored on a corner kick from freshman Lauren Musumeci (Annandale, N.J./North Hunterdon) in the 10th minute of play to give Rider (5-4-3) a 1-0 lead. Rider freshman goalkeeper Alex Post (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks West) made four saves and made Devlin’s goal hold up until Delaware State scored in the 85th minute to send the game into overtime. In overtime Mahar took a 40 yard free kick to end the contest.

Field Hockey
At Lehigh senior Emily Egan (Gibbsboro, N.J./Eastern) scored her first goal of the season in only her second game after returning from a stress fracture and a torn ACL that kept her sidelined for the last year. Junior Diana Celebre (Lake Grove, N.Y./Sachem) assisted on the goal. Freshman Lindsay Rajeski (New Egypt, N.J./New Egypt) notched her third goal of the season two minutes later off assists from junior Julie Vaccarelli (Oceanport, N.J./Shore Regional) and freshman Margaret Ecke (New Egypt, N.J./New Egypt) and Rider led 2-0 at the half. At Siena freshman Amanda Barretta (Roseland/West Essex) scored five minutes in off assists from junior Tricia Crotty (Lewistown, Pa./Indian Valley) and freshman Allison Vogel (Oceanport/Shore Regional) giving the Broncs the early lead. Crotty factored in the scoring again at the 29 minute mark, picking up a rebound off a corner for her team-leading fifth goal of the season, giving Rider a 2-0 lead at the half. Siena hit the scoring column with 28 minutes left in the game before senior Stephanie Walker (Lyman, Maine/Massabesic) scored a minute later on a fast break to bring the lead back to two goals.

At Marist junior AJ Parillo (South River) scored his first goal of the season in the 41st minute off of a corner kick to give Rider a 1-0 lead. Senior Lee Tomasso (Westfield) took a corner kick that was received by junior Anthony Gilbert (Jamison, Pa./Central Bucks South), who headed it to Parillo. Rider junior goalkeeper Jesse Forsythe (Costa Mesa, Calif./Mater Dei) made eight saves.

Senior Tyler Brewington (Orangeville, Pa./Benton) shot a three-day total of 214 placing second of 85 golfers at Cornell. Junior Eric LeFante (Colts Neck, N.J./Colts Neck) finished 48th with a 234. Freshman Brent Wolgast (Bay City, Mich./Pendleton) shot a 237 and finished tied for 58th with teammate, freshman Brian Accorsini (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton).

Against Saint Francis sophomore Marc Ashed (Vineland) won at third singles 6-0, 6-0 and teamed up with sophomore Will Haight (Turnersville/Washington Township) to win at second doubles 8-0. Haight won at second singles 6-2, 6-1, freshman Chris Esposito (Ocean Grove, N.J./Neptune) won at fourth singles 6-0, 6-0 with senior Jim Leone (Forked River, N.J./Lacey Township) also posting a 6-0, 6-0 win at fifth singles. Against Monmouth sophomore Kristina Paich (Stanhope, N.J./Lenape Valley Regional) won a tie-breaker.

At Lehigh’s Paul Short run senior John Smith (Cliffwood Beach/Matawan) was 103rd among the 268 runners, covering the 8k course in 25:54. Freshman Chelsea Callan (Hazlet/Raritan) placed first among the Broncs, 212th overall among the 314 runners, covering the 5k course in 23:52.

Volleyball
At Iona junior Lacey Johnson (Aurora, Colo./Grandview) and freshman Katelyn Thompson (Tucson, Ariz./Catalina Foothills) each had a ‘double-double’. Johnson had 19 kills and 15 digs with Thompson adding 19 digs and 15 kills along with six service aces. Johnson now has 979 digs in her career. Against Saint Peter’s freshman Amanda Piccolini (St. Clairsville, Ohio/St. Clairsville) just missed a ‘triple-double’ with 56 assists, 13 digs and seven kills.
