Rider’s Thompson Preseason All-American
LAWRENCEVILLE--The Collegehoops.net Preseason Mid-Major All-America Team was announced Monday, and Rider University senior Jason Thompson was named to the First Team. “It is always great to see one of our players get recognized,” said Rider head coach Tommy Dempsey.
The list features selections from 15 conferences. Other players from the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference include Charron Fisher of Niagara on the second team and Gerald Brown of Loyola received honorable mention.
Thompson, a member of the CollegeInsider.com 2007 Mid-Major All-American team, was the 2007 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year and a member of the CollegeInsider.com 2007 Defensive All-American team.
“Jason has done everything he was supposed to do since he arrived at Rider and this year he is determined to make his senior year a special season,” Dempsey said. “We are all extremely excited to get things started.”
Thompson enters his senior year with 1,346 career points, 11th highest ever at Rider, and 759 rebounds, sixth highest ever at Rider.
