Sophomore Nico Tramontana (Vineland/Sacred Heart) scored two goals to lead Rider to victory over La Salle Saturday. The win was the fifth for Rider in the last six games. Tramontana received a corner kick from senior Lee Tomasso (Westfield) and scored just 3:27 into the game for a 1-0 lead, and scored again with 16 minutes left in the second half to build a 4-0 lead. Tomasso had two assists for the Broncs. His cross hit sophomore Kevin Juska (Wall) in the chest, went off a defender and caromed to junior Anthony Gilbert (Jamison, Pa./Central Bucks South), who scored to give Rider a 2-0 lead in the 11th minute of play. Rider freshman Tom Antonucci (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South) came in off the bench and scored his second goal in the last three games on an assist from freshman Andrew Cotes (Selden, N.Y./Newfield) just 41 seconds into the second half. Rider junior goalkeeper Randall Zapolski (Lawrence) made eight saves, including six in the first half.

The Broncs fell back down to .500 with a loss to Penn Sunday afternoon. Penn (6-2-1) scored the only goal it would need in the 29th minute of play and added an insurance goal on a direct kick with 22 minutes left to play. Rider freshman Alex Post (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks West) made four saves. Rider was out-shot 13-3. Against St. Joe freshman Lauren Musumeci (Annandale, N.J./North Hunterdon) scored her team-high fourth goal of the season on an assist from sophomore Alison Brody (Alexandria, Va./West Potomac) with just over six minutes left to play. Junior defender Erin Mahar (Barnegat, N.J./Colonia) scored her first career goal and junior Michelle Matricardi (Abington, Pa./Abington) tied the score at 2-2 with her first goal of the season. Rider out-shot St. Joe’s 22-11, including 13-6 in the second half. Alex Post made seven saves for her second shutout.

Field Hockey
At La Salle junior Diana Celebre (Lake Grove, N.Y./Sachem) scored her third goal of the season with less than six minutes left in regulation, tying the game at one. At Robert Morris freshman Lindsay Rajeski (New Egypt) scored her second goal in as many games to lead Rider to a Northeast Conference win. Rider senior goalie Jen LoCastro (Cherry Hill, N.J./Camden Catholic) collected her first career shutout, making six saves. Rajeski, who scored her first collegiate goal against Temple on Tuesday, took a pass from senior Steph Walker (Lyman, Maine/Massabesic) and scored in the 20th minute of play. Rider out-shot RMU 7-6, but the home team had 10 penalty corners to Rider’s one.

Volleyball
Against Fairfield freshman Amanda Piccolini (St. Clairsville, Ohio/St. Clairsville) had 17 assists and eight digs with fellow rookie Elyse Grassmuck (Seguin, Texas/La Vernia) adding 13 assists. Sophomore Brittany Hayes (Mitchelleville, Md./Elizabeth Seton) had 11 kills for Rider with freshman Katelyn Thompson (Tucson, Ariz./Catalina Foothills) compiling 10 digs. Against Marist senior Katrina Stehle (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) had nine kills and a .286 hitting percentage with Elyse Grassmuck adding 15 assists.

Senior Tyler Brewington (Orangeville, Pa./Benton) shot a three-day total of 214 placing second of 85 golfers at the 16-team Cornell Big-Red Invite. Junior Eric LeFante (Colts Neck, N.J./Colts Neck) shot a 76 and finished 48th with a 234.  Freshman Brent Wolgast (Bay City, Mich./Pendleton) shot a 78 (237 total) and finished tied for 58th with teammate, freshman Brian Accorsini (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton) who also shot a 78.  Freshman Jordan Wycoff (Fort Washington, Pa./Saint Stephens Episcopal) shot a 78 and was 66th with a 239.

At Lehigh’s Paul Short run senior John Smith (Cliffwood Beach/Matawan) was 103rd among the 268 runners, covering the 8k course in 25:54.  For the Rider women, freshman Chelsea Callan (Hazlet/Raritan) placed first among the Broncs, 212th overall among the 314 runners, covering the 5k course in 23:52. Also for the Rider men junior Matt Dahl (West Keansburg/Raritan) was 142nd  in 26:12, senior Jeff Stead (Fairless Hills, PA/Pennsbury) was 217th in 27:03 and sophomore Phil Capaldi (Woxall, Pa./Souderton) was 225th in 27:14.  Also for the Rider women junior Kelly Wojciehowski (Fair Haven/Rumson Fair Haven) placed 232nd in 24:06, junior Megan Crowe (Philadelphia, PA/St. Hubert's) placed 247th in 24:21 and sophomore Kelsey Kohler (Southampton, Pa./Saint Basil's Academy) was 272nd in 24:52.

Tennis
Against Monmouth sophomore Kristina Paich (Stanhope, N.J./Lenape Valley Regional) won a tie-breaker. Against La Salle sophomore Will Haight (Turnersville, N.J./Washington Township) won at third singles 6-1, 7-5 and teamed up with sophomore Marc Ashed (Vineland, N.J./Vineland) to win at second doubles 9-7. The Broncs also posted a win at first singles with junior Casey Jedlinski (Manalapan, N.J./Manalapan) winning a thriller in three sets 6-4, 5-7, 6-4.  Freshman Chris Esposito also posted a three-set win, in come from behind fashion 5-7, 6-3, 6-2. Against Manhattan the first doubles team of junior Danielle Morse (Edison, N.J./Hopewell Valley) and Kristina Paich won 9-8, scoring a 7-1 win in the tiebreaker.
