Sophomore Alison Brody (Alexandria, Va./West Potomac) scored two goals and freshman Kara Perkoski (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) had three assists to lead Rider to victory over Longwood in the second round of the Navy Soccer Invitational, held at the United States Naval Academy. Rider went 1-0-1 in the tournament for the second time in two tournaments this season. Brody gave Rider a 1-0 lead 10:10 into the game from just eight yards out after a crossing pass from Perkoski. Freshman Lauren Musumeci (Annandale, N.J./North Hunterdon), the MAAC Rookie of the Week last week, scored her third goal of the season to give the Broncs a 2-0 lead in the 15th minute of play. Brody scored again, her fifth career goal, on a breakaway after a pass from Perkoski to take a 3-0 lead mid-way through the first half. Rider out-shot Longwood 14-7, including 7-3 in the second half. Bronc freshman goalkeeper Alex Post (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks West) made three saves. The Broncs extended their unbeaten streak to seven games. The Broncs were 2-0-1 over the final three games of last season.

Field Hockey
Freshman Michaela Franey took a pass from junior Tricia Crotty (Lewistown, Pa./Indian Valley) and scored four minutes into overtime to give Rider a come from behind win over Appalachian State. Senior Steph Walker (Lyman, Maine/Massabesic) scored Rider’s first two goals. Freshman Margaret Ecke (New Egypt, N.J./New Egypt) scored her first collegiate goal to tie the score at 3-3. Senior goalie Jen LoCastro (Cherry Hill, N.J./Camden Catholic) made 12 saves.

Volleyball
Rider sophomore Brittany Hayes (Mitchelleville, Md./Elizabeth Seton) and freshman Katelyn Thompson (Tucson, Ariz./Catalina Foothills) were voted all-tournament honors as Rider split two matches on the final day of the Bobcat Invitational hosted by Quinnipiac. Hayes averaged 2.78 kills and 0.44 digs while Thompson had 3.33 kills per game as well as 2.22 digs. Against Providence Saturday afternoon, Hayes had a career-high 13 kills with Thompson adding 11 kills and eight digs. Freshman Amanda Piccolini (St. Clairsville, Ohio/St. Clairsville) had 21 assists with sophomore Amy Jeary (Depew, N.Y./St. Mary’s) compiling 21 digs.

Freshman Jim Bradley (Sewell, N.J./Washington Township) took a crossing pass from junior Anthony Gilbert (Jamison, Pa./Central Bucks South) and scored with just over one minute left in the second half to give Rider a victory at Philadelphia U. Wednesday. Rider took a 1-0 lead 20 minutes into the second half when junior Colin Jennings (Wall) sent a long pass up the field which was collected by sophomore Nico Tramontana (Vineland/Sacred Heart), who scored his first goal as a Bronc. Rider out-shot Phila. U. 16-7, including 11-3 in the second half. Junior Randall Zapolski (Lawrence) made one save in the Rider nets.

Rider senior Tyler Brewington (Orangeville, Pa./Benton) shot a 77 on Sunday to finish with a two-round total of 146, placing third out of 75 golfers at the Colgate Invitational at the 6,915 yard Seven Oaks Golf Course in New York. Brewington was tied for first after shooting a three-under par 69 on Saturday. Junior Eric LeFante (Colts Neck, N.J./Colts Neck) shot a 155 to finish 21st. Freshman Brian Accorsini (Hopkinton, Mass.) shot a 161 and finished 43rd, freshman Brent Wolgast (Bay City, Mich.) shot a 165 finishing 58th and sophomore Dan Toomey (Lumberton, N.J./Rancocas Valley) carded a 166, finishing 62nd.

The Broncs began the 2007 season at the Fordham Invitational, held at Van Cortlandt State Park, with the men finishing seventh of 22 and the women placing 11th of 23. For the men, senior John Smith (Cliffwood Beach/Matawan) placed first for the Broncs, 30th overall among the 233 runners, covering the five mile course in 27:32. Sophomore Robert McCullough (Plymouth Meeting, PA/La Salle) was second for Rider, 55th overall in 28:25. For the Rider women, sophomore Kelsey Kohler (Southampton, PA/Saint Basil's Academy) was first for the Broncs, 38th overall among the 233 runners, covering the 3.1 mile course in 20:37. Freshman Chelsea Callan (Hazlet/Raritan) was second for Rider (20:50). Also for the men, junior Matt Dahl (West Keansburg/Raritan) placed 57th (28:26), freshman Michael Soroko (Kinnelon) placed 72nd (28:56), senior Jeff Stead (Fairless Hills,PA/Pennsbury) placed 88th , sophomore Phillip Capaldi (Woxall, PA/Souderton) placed 99th (29:26), junior SeanKelly McCauley (Staten Island, NY/Port Richmond) was 127th (30:20), freshman Christopher Reale (Princeton Junction/West Windsor Plainsboro South) was 128th (30:21) and senior Ryan Donohue (Freehold/Freehold Twp.) was 140th (30:51). Also for the women, junior Megan Crowe (Philadelphia, PA/St. Hubert's) placed 67th (21:08), junior Kelly Wojciehowski (Fair Haven/Rumson Fair Haven) was 78th (21:23), sophomore Lauren Lester (Schenectady, NY/Mohonasen) was 100th (21:49), freshman Ashley O'Brien (Edison/J.P.
