64 Rider Student-Athletes Named
to the MAAC Academic Honor Roll

EDISON—64 Rider University student-athletes were among the 931 athletes honored by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference for their academic achievements during the 2006-07 school year.

To be eligible for the MAAC Academic Honor Roll, an athlete must hold a grade point average of 3.20 or higher on a 4.0 scale and be in his or her second year of athletic eligibility.

Junior Tiffany Day-Neutill (Agora Hills, Calif.), a Biopsychology major on the softball team led the list with a 3.91 g.p.a., followed by sophomore swimmer Priscilla Modrov (Smithtown, N.Y.) and junior Paul Matuszak (Philadelphia, Pa.).  Modrov is an Accounting/Finance major with a 3.89 g.p.a., and Matuszak, a member of the cross country and track and field teams is an Actuarial Science/Finance major with a 3.83 g.p.a.

Senior softball player Ashley Boulden (Brooklawn, N.J.) compiled a 3.80 g.p.a., as an Elementary Education/American Studies major, junior soccer player Lee Tomasso (Westfield, N.J.) had a 3.78 average as an Accounting major, senior swimmer Adrianne Glasgow (Davidsonville, Md.) had a 3.77 g.p.a. as a Political Science major, and volleyball teammates, junior Biology major Katrina Stehle (Greensburg, Pa.) and senior Reading/Language Arts major Megan Smith (Webster, N.Y.) had 3.73 averages.

Rounding out the top 10 for Rider was junior cross country/track athlete Jeff Stead (Fairless Hills, Pa.) and junior baseball player David Hayes (Sunrise, Fla.).  Stead had a 3.72 average, majoring in Business Economics/Finance with Hayes compiling a 3.71 g.p.a. as a Marketing major.

The women’s cross country/track and field teams led the led the Bronc honorees with 10 followed by the men’s cross country/track and field team with nine.  The Rider softball team had eight players honored with the women’s swimming and diving teams and men’s soccer placing seven on the honor roll.

Also honored for the Broncs were senior Caitlin Crawbuck (tennis) (Jacobstown, N.J.) who had a 3.68 g.p.a. as an English major, senior Doug Beck (track) (Branchburg, N.J.) 3.66 g.p.a., as an Entrepreneurial major, sophomore Jimmer Kennedy (baseball) (Levittown, Pa.) 3.66 g.p.a., in Accounting, junior James Leone (tennis) (Forked River, N.J.) 3.65 in English/Biology, sophomore A.J. Parillo (soccer/track) (South River, N.J.) 3.65 in Global Business, sophomore Eric LeFante (golf) (Colts Neck, N.J.) 3.64 in Business Administration, sophomore Jesse Forsythe (soccer) (Costa Mesa, Calif.) 3.63 Political Science, junior Kim Carter (soccer) (Chantilly, Va.) 3.62 Marketing, senior Jacob Kratt (soccer) (Moorestown, N.J.) 3.62 Management, sophomore Ericka Kriedel (swim) (Wethersfield, Conn.) 3.62 English/History and junior Aimee Schiller (softball) (Moreno Valley, Calif.) 3.62 as a Marketing major.

Additional honorees included senior Desiree Harbaugh (softball) (Frederick, Md.) 3.61 average, majoring in Elementary Ed./Psychology, junior Elizabeth Clatch (track) (Drums, Pa.) 3.60 in Accounting, junior Rebecca Clatch (track) (Drums, Pa.) 3.59 in Accounting, sophomore Kristen Warwick (swim) (Catonsville, Md.) 3.57 in Marketing, senior David Payne (track) (Neptune, N.J.) 3.56 as a Finance major, senior Jazmine Fenlator, (Wayne, N.J.) the two-time Rider Female Athlete of the Year, compiled a 3.56 average as a Journalism major, senior Jeff Palmer (golf) (Bensalem, Pa.) 3.55 in Business Administration, junior Kevin Hickman (basketball) (Newark, Del.) 3.51 Elementary Education/Communication, sophomore Katy Mills (softball) (Seattle, Wash.) 3.48 Psychology, junior Rebecca Sanbower (swim) (Lancaster, Pa.) 3.48 Accounting, sophomore Rebecca Riedel (cross country/track) (Milton, Del.) 3.48 Elementary Education/Arts, sophomore Laci Landrum (softball) (Grand Praire, Texas) 3.46 Management, senior Tim Jones (soccer) (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) 3.45 Finance and junior Jessica Holland (softball) (Hatboro, Pa.) 3.44 g.p.a., as a Communication major.

During the spring of 2007, the semester grade point average for all Rider student-athletes was a best-ever 3.04, compared to the 2.96 grade point average for Rider’s non-student-athlete population.  55 percent of Rider’s student-athletes received a 3.0 or better grade point average and 14 of the 20 squads had a team grade point average at 3.00 or above.
