A great all-around athlete, Russ Coleman compiled 13 varsity letters at Rider in Soccer (4), basketball (3), swimming (3), track (2), and baseball (1), serving as team captain of soccer and basketball. In soccer, he was a stalwart for a team that posted a 30-1 win-loss record, including a Rider mark of 27 consecutive victories. He went on to enjoy an outstanding coaching career at Neptune High where he coached the 1949 team to a 26-1 record and a New Jersey Group II State Championship. He was a member of the Rider Board of Trustees for nine years.
