Strandskov is considered the greatest tennis player ever at Rider, compiling a 45-3 career record, leading his teams to a combined 40-7 record as Rider's number one singles player. He was the 1974 Rider Athlete of the Year when he advanced to the NCAA Championships, and later went on to defeat John McEnroe on the pro circuit.
