October 20, 2007 - Brewington wins Mount St. Mary’s Fall Classic / Rider 7th of 13

After shooting a three-under par 69, Rider senior Tyler Brewington (Orangeville, Pa./Benton) made par on the second playoff hole to win the Mount St. Mary’s Fall Classic as the golf team competed this weekend at the par 72, 6,834 yard Quail Valley Golf Course.  “Tyler put on a great performance,” said head coach Bob Whartenby.  “He made some key putts and it was a good come back round after he shot a 74 on Friday.”

October 19, 2007 - Rider at Mount St. Mary’s Fall Classic / 8th of 13 after Day One

The Rider men’s golf team is competing this weekend at the Mount St. Mary’s Fall Classic and after Friday’s opening round are tied for eighth place out of 13 teams at the par 72, 6834 yard Quail Valley Golf Course.  “We started off pretty good,” said head coach Bob Whartenby.  “By the middle of the round I thought we were going to come in with some low scores and then it started raining and we made some mistakes coming in causing us to post a higher number.”

October 4, 2007 - Brewington / Musumeci Rider Athletes of the Month (September)

Tyler Brewington of the golf team and Lauren Musumeci of the soccer team were named the Rider University Athletes of the Month for all competition in September. “It is very exciting, very surprising,” Musumeci said. “My first month at Rider has been amazing.”  “We have a lot of great athletes at Rider so getting this award is a great honor,” Brewington said.

September 30, 2007 - Brewington 2nd of 85 / Rider 10th of 16 at Cornell Big-Red Invite

Rider senior Tyler Brewington shot a final round 74 for a three-day total of 214 placing second of 85 golfers at the 16-team Cornell Big-Red Invite hosted at the par-72 Robert Trent Jones Course this weekend.  “Today was a tough day with swirling winds causing the course to play longer,” said head coach Bob Whartenby.  “The pins were tougher.  Overall we left a lot of shots our there.  Other than Tyler placing second, it was a disappointing weekend.  It shows we really need to work on our short game.”

September 29, 2007 - Brewington 1st of 85 / Rider 11th of 16 at Cornell Big-Red Invite after Day One

Rider senior Tyler Brewington leads the 85 golfer field by one shot after shooting a 140 on day one of the 16-team Cornell Big-Red Invite hosted at the par-72 Robert Trent Jones Course this weekend.  “I’m happy that for the most part we improved from the morning round,” said head coach Bob Whartenby after his team lowered their score by 17 shots in the afternoon round.  “We need to learn to get it going a little quicker especially when you are playing 36 holes.”

September 24, 2007 - Brewington 1st of 74 / Rider 5th of 14 at Leo Keenan Invitational

Rider senior Tyler Brewington shot a 71 and finished at even par 140 to win the Leo Keenan Invitational hosted by St. Bonaventure.  “I was really happy with our play yesterday,” said head coach Bob Whartenby.  “We really put ourselves in great position to win the tournament.  Unfortunately, we didn’t putt very well and gave up a lot of shots in today’s round.”

September 23, 2007 - Brewington 1st of 74 / Rider 1st of 14 after Day One / Leo Keenan Invitational

Rider senior Tyler Brewington (Orangeville, Pa./Benton) shot a one under 69 on the par 70 6,308 yard St. Bonaventure course and leads the Leo Keenan Invitational by one shot after the opening round Sunday.  “In the beginning we were struggling,” said head coach Bob Whartenby.  “In the middle and the end of the round we really came on strong. We finished really strong, making a lot of birdies. That really saved the day.”

September 15, 2007 - 3rd of 16 at Bucknell Invitational / Brewington 2nd

The Broncs competed this weekend at the 16-team Bucknell Invitational hosted by the Bison at par 70, 6,310 yard Bucknell Golf Club and placed third with a team score of 883 after shooting a 299 in the final round on Saturday.  “The tournament was a great learning experience for everyone,” said head coach Bob Whartenby.  “Hopefully our younger players learned a little bit on how to finish a tournament off and how important each shot is on the final results.”

September 14, 2007 - 2nd of 16 at Bucknell Invitational - Day One / Brewington 3rd

The Broncs are competing this weekend at the 16-team Bucknell Invitational hosted by the Bison at par 70, 6,310 yard Bucknell Golf Club and are tied for second after day one with a team score of 584.  “Our first round, we were all around par until the last four or five holes,” said head coach Bob Whartenby.  “We gave up seven or eight shots at the end of the round but we rebounded and had a strong second round and we are in a good position heading into the final day.”

September 9, 2007 - at Colgate Invitational / Brewington 3rd / Rider 4th of 15

Rider senior Tyler Brewington (Orangeville, Pa./Benton) shot a five over par 77 on Sunday to finish with a two-round total of 146, placing third out of 75 golfers at the Colgate Invitational at the 6,915 yard Seven Oaks Golf Course in New York.  “It was there for the taking for Tyler,” said head coach Bob Whartenby.  “He battled through some bad weather.  It was raining off and on so it made it a little tougher than yesterday.”

September 8, 2007 - at Colgate Invitational / Brewington 1st after Day One / Rider 4th of 15

Rider senior Tyler Brewington (Orangeville, Pa./Benton) shot a three under par 69 on day one of the Colgate Invitational and is tied for first place out of 75 golfers at the 6,915 yard Seven Oaks Golf Course in New York.  “Tyler came into the tournament with a ton of confidence after his experiences over the summer,” said head coach Bob Whartenby.  “He got it going early and shot a 31 on the front nine.  He is playing with something to prove.”

August 22, 2007 - Rider’s Brewington at 107th U.S. Amateur

Rider senior Tyler Brewington (Orangeville, Pa./Benton) shot an eight over par 78 in round one and a four over par 74 in the second round, missing the cut by five shots at the 107th United States Amateur Championship August 21-22, held at the Olympic Club in California.

August 10, 2007 - Brewington Fires 72 on Day Two of PGA Nationwide Tour Event

Despite shooting only one-over par, Rider University senior Tyler Brewington (Orangeville, Pa./Benton), missed the cut at the Northeast Pennsylvania Classic on the PGA Nationwide Tour in Scranton Friday. 

August 9, 2007 - Brewington Fires 74 on Day One of PGA Nationwide Event

Rider University senior Tyler Brewington (Orangeville, Pa./Benton), shot a three-over par 74 in the first round of the Northeast Pennsylvania Classic on the PGA Nationwide Tour in Scranton Thursday and is in 124th place of 156 golfers after day one.

August 2, 2007 - Brewington to play in PGA Nationwide Tour Event / Qualified for U.S. Amateur Tournament

Tyler Brewington (Orangeville, Pa./Benton), who will be a senior on the Rider University golf team in the fall, has received one of two sponsors exemptions and will play in the Northeast Pennsylvania Classic on the PGA Nationwide Tour in Scranton, Pennsylvania August 6-12.  Brewington has also qualified for the 107th United States Amateur Tournament in San Francisco, California, August 20-26.
