The Broncs swept Campbell and Binghamton on day two of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Duals hosted this weekend by George Mason University. Rider finished 2-2 in the two-day event. “Our success this weekend will make us sharper for the conference championships next month,” said head coach Gary Taylor. “And we'll need to be. Just because we beat a wrestler today does not mean we’ll beat the same opponent next month at CAA's. All of the conference wrestlers are very good and if you aren’t both physically and mentally up to the task, they can turn around and beat you.” |

Two years is a long time. Due to a Colonial Athletic Association rule, that is how long Ed Bordas had to sit out when he transferred from Binghamton University to Rider. The long wait is over, and everyone is happy about that. “Now that I’m back, the two-year wait was worth it,” said heavyweight Ed Bordas (Montgomery, N.Y./Valley Central), “but to be honest I was doubting myself at times.” |

With two fourths and a fifth place finisher, the Broncs placed a best-ever 12th at the 45th Annual Midlands Wrestling Tournament, hosted by Northwestern University. “We’ve never put three in the semi-finals before and this is the highest we’ve finished here as a team, so I’m pleased with that,” said Rider head coach Gary Taylor. |

The 2007-08 Rider University wrestling season begins with a pair of national powers coming in to Alumni Gymnasium, #6 Missouri on Friday November 9 and #3 Iowa State on Friday November 16. “This is by far the most challenging schedule in the history of Rider wrestling,” said Rider head coach Gary Taylor, who’s 330 wins is second most among active NCAA Division I coaches. |

The Rider University wrestling team is ranked 26th in the WrestlingReport.com Preseason 2008 National Rankings and six Broncs begin the season ranked among the top 30 in their respective weight classes. “We are pleased to be recognized as a Top 30 team and will look to improve on that ranking as the season unfolds,” said Rider Associate Head Coach John Hangey. |
