PHILADELPHIA, PA--Several members of the Rider University track & field teams are competing at the 2007 Penn Relay Carnival hosted by the University of Pennsylvania Thursday-Saturday. “Our All-East performers rose to the occasion today and did well,” said Rider head coach Rob Pasquariello.
On Friday, Sophomore Desmond Hamilton (Pennsauken) placed third in the long jump (7.18m) and senior Doug Beck (Branchburg/Somerville) placed seventh in the discus (49.41m). “That was the second best throw of the season for Doug,” Pasquariello said.
The women’s shuttle hurdles relay team of sophomore Tabatha Haskins (Medford/Shawnee), senior Katie O’Connor (Forked River, N.J./Lacey Twp.), freshman Karlise Cureton (Harrisburg, PA/Susquehanna Twp.) and sophomore Ashley Maynard (Pen Argyl, PA) placed 12th (1:02.58).
While some of his teammates were in Philadelphia, senior Danny Enck (Lititz, PA/Warwick) was busy breaking his own Rider record in the hammer at The College of New Jersey’s Lion Invitational, winning the event with a toss of 172’2”. “Danny just missed qualifying for the IC4As by two centimeters,” Pasquariello said.
The majority of the Lion Invitational events take place Saturday.
