PHILADELPHIA, PA—Several members of the Rider University track & field teams are competing at the 2007 Penn Relay Carnival hosted by the University of Pennsylvania Thursday-Saturday. “We had an average day,” said Rider head coach Rob Pasquariello. “We were hoping that since there was no team pressure, the kids would go out and have big individual performances, and that didn’t happen. Maybe they need the team pressure to excel. Our women really have that team concept.”
Sophomore Kelly Kajunski (Glenmore, Pa./Downington East) placed fourth in the high jump (5’4.75”), and senior Jazmine Fenlator (Wayne/Wayne Valley) placed sixth in the hammer (53.14m). “We had two place in their sections, so we have to be pleased with that,” Pasquariello said.
Senior Katie O’Connor (Forked River, N.J./Lacey Twp.) also high jumped 5’3”.
Competition continues Friday. “We’re hoping for better things tomorrow,” Pasquariello said. “We have some All-East performers competing tomorrow.”
