PRINCETON—The Broncs competed at the Larry Ellis Memorial Invitational this weekend at Princeton University. “We did well today,” said Rider head coach Rob Pasquariello. “We got a lot of qualifiers and we broke some team records. Our leaders really stepped up and took advantage of the weather.”

For the Rider women, senior Jazmine Fenlator (Wayne/Wayne Valley) broke her own Rider record in the hammer (176’6”) and won the shot put with an NCAA Regional qualifying toss of 48’7.25”. “That’s just off her team record by about three-quarters of an inch,” Pasquariello said. “She has now qualified for the NCAA Regional in both the shot and the discus this spring.”

Sophomore Kelly Kajunski (Glenmore, Pa./Downington East) tied her own Rider record in winning the high jump with an ECAC qualifying height of 5’7”.

Sophomore Tabatha Haskins (Medford/Shawnee) broke the Rider record in the triple jump (38’1.5”), a record that stood since 1999, finishing third. “That was a long standing record,” Pasquariello said, “so that was a good one to get.”

For the men, senior David Payne (Neptune) won both the 100m (10.70) and the 200m (21.54) in IC4A qualifying times for the Rider men.

Senior Danny Enck (Lititz, PA/Warwick) broke his own Rider record in the hammer with a toss of 171’6” and also placed 10th in the shot put (44’5.5”). “Danny works his butt off day in and day out, and is so invested in being the best that he can be,” Pasquariello said.  “So when he has the success, it is really gratifying, not just for me but for everyone on the team because they respect his work ethic. He has a big heart.”

“I was happy to break the school record again,” Enck said.  “I wanted to throw it farther, but I was excited. I knew it right away. That’s one thing with Coach P. He kept telling me I had to be patient, that the training was going to pay off, and that we were going to get to this point.  We finally had a day when the weather broke, and that helped. It was actually like spring time, and I think the performances showed that pretty much all across the board, especially in the field. We had a tremendous day. Jazmine threw really well, as did our freshmen.”

Also for the Broncs junior Andrew Dagenais (Glen Rock) placed third in the javelin (175’9”), sophomore Desmond Hamilton (Pennsauken) placed fifth in the 100m (10.89), sixth in the high jump (22’9.25”) and seventh in the 200m (22.15), freshman Kevin Breen (Langhorne, PA/Archbishop Ryan) was seventh in the pole vault (14’7.25”) and freshman Paul Racioppi (Old Bridge) placed eight in the 400m hurdles (56.19).

Junior Rebecca Clatch (Drums, PA/Hazelton Area) placed third in the javelin (124’9”), senior Katie O’Connor (Forked River, N.J./Lacey Twp.) was fourth in the high jump (6’5”), junior Elizabeth Clatch (Drums, PA/Hazelton Area) was fifth in the javelin (122’7”) and freshman Jennifer Croghan (Nutley/Mt. St. Dominic) placed seventh in the 3,000m (11:15.84).

Rider competes at the Penn Relays next weekend. “The Penn Relays is not a team competition, but is a good opportunity for some of our individuals to put themselves in a better position for the Eastern Regionals,” Pasquariello said.
