Rider’s Payne Honored by MAAC

LAWRENCEVILLE—Rider University senior David Payne was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Track & Field Performer of the Week for all competition April 10-16.  "It's great to see David getting recognized for the weekly award," said head coach Rob Pasquariello.

Payne (Neptune) won the 100 meter dash in an IC4A qualifying time of 10.69 and also placed second in the 200 meters with a time of 21.77 at the seven-team Rider Invitational Saturday.

Payne currently owns the fastest times in the MAAC this season in both the 100m (10.67) and the 200m (21.49).

The Rider Invitational field consisted of Sacred Heart, Delaware, La Salle, Temple, Loyola and Saint Peter’s.

Payne holds Rider Indoor records in the 60m (6.81), 200m (21.35) and 300m (34.88).

"David is finishing his career on a high note," Pasquariello added.  "We expect many more exceptional performances from him in these remaining five weeks."

Rider competes at Princeton’s Larry Ellis Invitational this weekend.
