Rider Celebrates National Student-Athlete Day
11 Broncs Honored

LAWRENCEVILLE—11 Rider University student-athletes were honored Friday as part of the 20th annual National Student-Athlete Day.

Senior Ashley Boulden from field hockey and softball, junior Kim Carter from soccer, senior Kelly-Ann Chouinard from tennis, senior Adrianne Glasgow of swimming & diving, junior Janele Henderson from basketball, junior Kevin Hickman from basketball, senior Erik Holck from baseball, junior Jimmy Leone from tennis, junior Aimee Schiller from softball, junior Katrina Stehle from volleyball and junior Lee Tomasso from soccer were honored Friday.

Boulden (Brooklawn, N.J./Gloucester) is an Elementary Education/Special Education major (3.788 grade point average) who serves on the National Council for Exceptional Children and is a starter on both the field hockey and the softball teams. Boulden was a member of both the Northeast Conference (field hockey) and the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (softball) All-Academic teams.

Carter (Chantilly, Va./Chantilly) is a Marketing major (3.689) and a member of the National Business Honors Fraternity, and on the soccer field has compiled 21 victories, including 13 shutouts, in goal for the Broncs as a MAAC All-Academic team goalkeeper.

Chouinard (White Hall, Md./Hereford) serves as the tennis team captain and representative on the Student Athlete Advisory Council.  As Finance major she owns a 3.23 grade point average, was a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, and is a MAAC All-Academic tennis team member.

Glasgow (Davidsonville, Md./Saint Mary's) is a Political Science/Pre-Law major (3.746), represents the swimming & diving team on SAAC, is a Student Athlete Mentor, and in the pool served as team captain as a MAAC All-academic team member.

Henderson (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Loughlin) led the Rider basketball team in scoring and was second in assists. An Elementary Education/Art major (3.011), Henderson participated in the Race for the Cure.

Hickman (Newark, Del./Wilmington Christian) is a Communications major (3.50) and serves as team captain and SAAC representative of the basketball team. Hickman is also a Student Athlete Mentor and a member of the MAAC All-Academic basketball team.

Holck (Readington, N.J./Hunterdon Central) is a Management major (3.274) and president of the Student Athlete Advisory Council. He also holds the Rider baseball career record for games pitched and a member of the MAAC All-Academic team.

Leone (Forked River, N.J./Lacey Township) is a Biology/English Literature double major (3.64) and is a member of the Tri Beta (Biology National Honor Society), treasurer of Rider’s American Medical Student Association and plays fourth singles for Rider as a MAAC All-Academic team selection.

Schiller (Moreno Valley, Calif./Moreno Valley) is a Marketing/Event Planning major (3.50) and a Student Athlete Mentor who took part in the Race for the Cure and is a member of the Rider Community Standards Board. The first baseman is also a MAAC All-Academic softball team member.

Stehle (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) is a Biology/Chemistry/English major (3.723) and a member of Beta Beta Beta, Sigma Tau Delta and Omicron Delta Kappa. Stehle is the on-campus activity coordinator for the science learning community, is a member of the Student Ambassador Program, has a Science Honors Fellowship and is a MAAC All-Academic volleyball team member.

Tomasso (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) is a Business major (3.792) and president of DAARSTOC and a member of Beta Alpha Psi and Alpha Lamda Delta, while starting 18 games on defense for the Rider soccer team as a MAAC All-Academic selection.
