Fenlator, Fisch Honored
LAWRENCEVILLE—Jazmine Fenlator of the track & field team and Don Fisch of the wrestling team were named the Rider University Athletes of the Month for March.
Fenlator, a senior from Wayne (Wayne Valley), ended the indoor track & field season in March by earning All-East honors in both the shot put and the 20 pound weight throw at the Eastern College Athletic Association Championships, and began the outdoor season be setting another Rider record in the hammer.
Fisch, a junior from Williamstown (Delsea), earned All-America honors at the NCAA Wrestling Championships, finishing fifth in his weight class.
Fisch was unseeded and went 4-2 at Nationals, defeating the fifth, 12th, fourth and seventh seeds, losing only to the first seed and to the eventual third place finisher. Fisch was 3-1 at the Colonial Athletic Association Championships earlier in March, finishing runner-up to the eighth ranked wrestler in the nation.
The 7-3 month gave Fisch a record of 33-10 for the season, the most wins on the team and an 89-25 record for his career heading into his senior year.
Fenlator, the 2005-06 Rider female Athlete of the Year, has already twice been named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Performer of the Week this spring. Fenlator holds the Rider records in both the shot put and the weight throw indoor, and all three outdoor records; the hammer, discus and shot put.
