Rider's Fenlator, Payne Honored by MAAC

LAWRENCEVILLE—Jazmine Fenlator and David Payne of the Rider University track & field teams were named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Performers of the Week for all competition March 27-April 2.  “This is great for both programs,” said Rider head coach Rob Pasquariello.

Fenlator, a senior from Wayne (Wayne Valley), set a Rider record while winning the hammer with an ECAC qualifying throw of 174'7” at the Lafayette Invitational.  Fenlator also won the discus (150'11”) and shot put (46'6.25”) with ECAC qualifying throws.

Payne, a senior from Neptune, won both the 100 meter (10.67) and the 200 meter (21.49) dashes at the Lafayette Invitational, qualifying for the IC4A's in both events.

At previous IC4A Championships Payne has earned All-East honors four times in his career, most recently in the 200 meters indoors last month.

“These two have been setting the standards for our program over the last four years,” Pasquariello said.

This is the second consecutive week the MAAC has honored Fenlator, who was the 2005-06 Rider female Athlete of the Year. During the indoor season Fenlator earned All-East honors in both the shot put and the weight throw at the ECAC Championships.

Fenlator holds the Rider records in both the shot put and the weight throw indoor, and all three outdoor records; the hammer, discus and shot put.

Rider competes at the Duke Invitational April 6-7 in Durham, NC.
