Dr. Katherine Maynard

Professor of English

Degrees: B.S. SUNY at Brockport, Ph.D., University of Rochester

Dr. Maynard teaches the Literary History I and II survey courses required for all English majors and minors. She also teaches Baccalaureate Honors Courses as well as courses in American Studies. She has published two books (Thomas Hardy's Tragic Poetry, and Men and Women at Work) as well as two children's books (Dining with Dinosaurs and The Cat-astrophe). In addition, she has published many scholarly articles ranging from Shakespeare to contemporary writers; poetry; and a libretto for a musical performed by the American Boychoir. She is currently writing two books: one on the idea of justice in literature and one on the idea of disenchantment in contemporary poetry. Dr. Maynard is a recipient of the Rider University (formerly Lindback) Award for Distinguished Teaching.

PROFESSIONAL HONORS

  • Graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BS from SUNY at Brockport
  • Given the Warren M. Morgan Memorial Award for English
  • Granted a Graduate Fellow at the University of Rochester for my Ph.D.
  • Received the Rider University Distinguished Teaching Award
