College of Liberal Arts, Education, & Sciences

MISSION STATEMENT

It is the mission of The College of Liberal Arts, Education and Sciences to prepare our students to meet the challenges of an ever-changing society by:

  •             Fostering student-centeredness through classes, seminars and close faculty-student
advising and mentoring resulting in an educational experience with breadth and depth.
  •             Providing students with a global perspective culminating in an enhanced cross-cultural
sensitivity through courses, study abroad opportunities and travel to foreign locations.
  •             Connecting students to the larger community through servcie learning opportunities,

joint student-faculty research, independent student research and study, quality internships

                      and significant co-operative experiences.

  •             Developing students with the value of self-reflection, the benefits of community service and

an appreciation of social justice that serves as a foundation for leadership, graduate or

professional study, successful careers and meaningful lives.

The College of Liberal Arts, Education, and Science welcomes the starry-eyed doodlers, dawdlers, and day-dreamers of yesterday and offers the intellectual experience, challenge, and skills to become inspired and motivated leaders of tomorrow whether as teachers, doctors, chemists, or writers.

Students learn from a faculty as diverse as our programs, broadening the students’ experiences. The faculty, 99 percent of whom hold doctoral degrees, offer a wide range of experience and academic backgrounds. Some are published writers and professional actors, while others are politicians, journalists, teachers, professors, scientists, and pharmacists.

Put your imagination to work.  Sail the Pequod and fight the mythical Grendel in literature; prepare for that trip to Paris, Barcelona, and the Oktoberfest by learning the lingua franca; see the universe through the eyes of Galileo, Darwin, Curie, and Locke by studying science and philosophy.  Enrich the lives of children by teaching.

If you share this vision, then the Rider University School of Liberal Arts, Education, and Sciences is where you belong.  Accept the challenge.
