Our Mission
Our mission is to provide a quality business education based on dynamic and innovative curricula to build professional competencies that enable our graduates to be productive, socially responsible participants in the rapidly changing global marketplace.
We create a supportive academic environment and provide our students opportunities for experiential learning. Our programs develop communication, interpersonal, teamwork, leadership, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
We are committed to continuous improvement as we strive for excellence. We ensure an infusion of current theory and practice in our curricula through scholarly research, professional activity and extensive business partnering.
AACSB
The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International) assures an accredited institution encourag
es excellence and improvement from its undergraduate and graduate business programs. The AACSB International represents the highest standard of accreditation for business schools internationally. The association also analyzes and approves accounting programs.
Rider University's College of Business Administration is one of more than 500 schools internationally and nationally that has received accreditation from AACSB International, initially in 1993 and then again in 2000 and 2007.
Additionally, accreditation of the accounting department is another element that sets Rider's CBA apart. Less than 200 schools worldwide have accredited accounting departments with Rider University being the only college in the state of New Jersey that holds this accreditation. Rider's department was initially recognized in 2000 and then again in 2007.
Our Learning Objectives
To support students in preparation for effective workplace performance and in their growth as individuals, the CBA undergraduate program strives to:
- Provide an outstanding faculty of teacher/scholars in the business fields who bring to the classroom a wide range of diverse expertise, and who emphasize teaching excellence as well as research and scholarship;
- Develop an understanding of the functions of business, an ability to apply the tools and skills that will solve business and organizational problems, and an appreciation for the global environment of organizations in society;
- Offer sufficient breadth and depth in the curriculum to enable the student to achieve a level of competence in a major, while providing opportunities for independent study, skill-building, and learning through experience;
- Ensure a useful balance between professional course work in the functional areas of business administration and study in the liberal arts and sciences; and
- Foster the development of leadership qualities and to encourage an attitude that values continuing education.
To remain strongly competitive, the CBA maintains high visibility and involvement in the corporate community outside of Rider. In addition to maintaining a well-established reputation as an excellent source of graduates in business, it seeks to be regarded as a useful and valuable resource of educational knowledge, business and management talent, economic expertise, and applied research. Students and faculty are involved regularly in real business situations through internships, meetings and programs of the Executive Advisoy Council, the Accounting Advisory Council of the College of Business Administration, special programs for the community such as the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, Minding Our Business (a mentoring program of entrepreneurship for inner-city students), and many student clubs and organizations.
Combining lessons learned from Rider’s outstanding faculty with the experience of applying theories to real-life situations gives you the advantage of honing your skills before joining the marketplace.
Dynamic programs in the classroom and innovative partnerships with leading companies ensure that you'll leave Rider ready to become a leader.
