Connected Learning
Knowledge that unites. Find out how many different ways you’ll experience connected learning.
Service Learning
Classes include a component that takes place at an institution, corporation, or community organization that reinforces the learning that has taken place in the classroom.
Independent Research & Study
Students have the opportunity to become involved in research in their chosen area. Such opportunities are limited to Juniors and Seniors in good academic standing and may result in publication before graduation.
Inquiry Based Science Courses
Allows students to investigate the working of science by observation and analysis under the supervision of a faculty member. This style of investigation promotes thinking and results in retention of basic knowledge. In all of the science departments at Rider, such courses exist. They primarily target education students.
Team Taught Courses
Our Baccalaureate Honors Program provides two faculty members from different disciplines as instructors in each course. In other areas such as Biology or Marine Sciences, or Fine Arts, models of team teaching are employed to generate multiple views of the material at hand.
Interdisciplinary Majors & Minors
Many of our programs include courses from other disciplines. Our Global and Multinational Studies major, the Law and Justice Program, our Gender Studies or Multicultural Studies programs, and programs bridging to the College of Business Administration such as the Sales Management for Science or the General Business Minor provide unique opportunities to our students.
Travel Courses
A number of our course offerings include a significant travel component. The Department of Fine Arts teaches about musical theatre in London. The Department of Geological and Marine Sciences teaches introductory courses in Bermuda and Roatan, Honduras. The Department of Political Science and the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures provide travel experience courses as well.
Internships
Offered for both credit and non-credit. Credit bearing internships are offered through Internship Coordinators in each of the departments in the College of Liberal Arts, Education, and Sciences. Internship Coordinators, faculty members, and department chairs, and professionals in Career Services assist students who wish to arrange non-credit internships.
