Moore Library Computer Lab/E-Classroom Policies

Policies of the University

As an academic community, Rider University is committed to providing an environment in which living and learning can occur. An academic community in which students, faculty administrations, and staff come together in voluntary association differs from others communities. In order to function effectively and to provide a climate in which all members can fulfill their personal and societal obligations, guidelines for defining rights and responsibilities within that community must be articulated.

The cade which follows attempts to do that by allowing each student the greatest possible freedom consistent with the community's welfare. While the spirit of mutual respect and regard for others cannot be legislated, it is the foundation of this code, and it, more than any other factor, is basis to the code's effective and humane functioning. As an individual, each student has a personal duty to uphold the code and guide guests in their behavior. As a community member, each student may expect that same duty of all other community members. The essence of maintaining a quality of life, then, is a true understanding of shared rights, privileges, and responsibilities.

Violations of the standards of social conduct as defined in these regulations will be adjudicated by the appropriate hearing authority.
