Program Concentrations

As a student in the MAcc program, you may select electives that will enable you to choose a varied selection of courses or you may concentrate in a particular area of interest, such as:

Concentrations are not a program requirement and many students may be best served by selecting electives from several different functional areas. The requirements for each area of interest are shown below.


Computer Information Systems

A minimum of three courses selected from the following:

  • MBAD 611 E-Commerce
  • MBAD 616 Selected Topics in CIS - Project Management
  • MBAD 616 Selected Topics in CIS - Globalization and Telecommunications
  • MBAD 618 Healthcare Information Systems


Entrepreneurship

A minimum of three courses selected from the following:

  • MBAD 683 Entrepreneurship
  • MBAD 629 Tax Planning for Entrepreneurs
  • At least one of the following
       MBAD 611 E-Commerce
       MBAD 646 Computerized Financial Analysis
       MBAD 682 Business Law
       MBAD 686 Employment Law for Business
       MBAD 689 Consulting for Small and New Businesses


Finance

A minimum of three courses selected from the following:

  • MBAD  641  Corporate Treasury Management
  • MBAD 643 Investment Instruments and Strategies
  • MBAD 644 Financial Market Operations
  • MBAD 645 International Financial Management
  • MBAD 646 Computerized Financial Analysis
  • MBAD 647 Portfolio Management
  • MBAD 648 Health-care Financing
  • MBAD 69X Independent Study in Finance*

*For students with four electives, one elective must be outside the 64X series. Students with five electives may take four in the 64X series and must take one outside.


Fraud and Forensic Accounting

The following two required courses:

  • MACC 663 Forensic Accounting
  • MACC 665 Fraud Detection & Deterance

At least one of the following:

  • MACC 667 Business Valuation
  • MBAD 616 Data Mining


Global Business

A minimum of three courses selected from the following:

  • MACC 656 International Dimensions of Accounting
  • MBAD 635 International Trade and Investment
  • MBAD 645 International Financial Management
  • MBAD 665 International Marketing Management
  • MBAD 675 International Management
  • MBAD 685 International Business Problems and Environmental Issues
  • MBAD 69X Independent Study in Global Business
  • MBAD 705 International Business Study Tour

This is a cross-functional concentration. All electives may be "global."


Management & Human Resources

A minimum of three courses selected from the following:

  • MBAD 670 Organization Design and Culture
  • MBAD 671 Human Resource Management
  • MBAD 672 Management Skills
  • MBAD 673 Labor Relations and Collective Bargaining
  • MBAD 674 Power and Politics in Organizations
  • MBAD 675 International Management
  • MBAD 676 Organization Development and Effectiveness
  • MBAD 677 Managing Workforce Diversity
  • MBAD  683 Entrepreneurship
  • MBAD  69X  Selected Topics in Management
  • MBAD 69X Independent Study in Management*

*For students with four electives, one elective must be outside the 67X series. Students with five electives may take four in the 67X series and must take one outside.


Marketing

A minimum of three courses selected from the following:

  • MBAD 663 Consumer Behavior
  • MBAD 664 Marketing Research
  • MBAD 665 International Marketing Management
  • MBAD 668 Health-care Marketing
  • MBAD 669 Selected Topics in Marketing
  • MBAD 69X Independent Study in Marketing*

*For students with four electives, one elective must be outside the 66X series. Students with five electives may take four in the 66X series and must take one outside.
