Requirements for Students Prior to Fall 2006

Radio and Television

Students in Rider's Radio and Television track have the opportunity to participate in classes tailored especially to their interests. They learn the secrets behind successful production in small, hands-on classes in the Communication Department's Television Studio, equipped with state-of-the-art Macintosh computers, in the field, and in Rider's radio station. In addition to the classroom experience, students can have their own shows on WRRC-FM, even as freshmen, or participate in the Rider University Network's programming lineup.

  • COM 230 - Radio and Television Communication (Fall and Spring) - 3 credits
  • COM 331 - Television Production (Fall and Spring) (Prerequisite: COM 230) - 3 credits
  • COM 333 - Broadcast Programming (Fall and Spring) (Prerequisite: COM 230) - 3 credits
  • COM 334 - Audio Production (Fall and Spring) - 3 credits
  • COM 335 - Television Field Production (Fall) - 3 credits
     

Choose at Least One

  • COM 233 - Writing for Broadcast (Spring) (Prerequisite: COM 105) - 3 credits
  • COM 102 - Introduction to Newswriting (Fall and Spring) - 3 credits
  • COM 106 - Writing for the Communication Professions (As Needed) - 3 credits

  • COM 431 - Advanced Television Research and Production (Fall and Spring) (Prerequisite: COM 331) - 3 credits
  • COM 434 - Advanced Radio Production (Spring) (Prerequisite: COM 334) - 3 credits
