Requirements

All interns are expected to:

  1. Hand in a completed internship application.
     
  2. Put in approximately 50 hours per credit in a para-professional working experience. (1-4 credits)
     
  3. Keep a working log of daily activities.
     
  4. Check with Dr. Turner directly at least once a week (this directly influences your grade), in person, if possible, or by phone (609) 895-5659 or (609) 896-5209.
     
  5. Hand in your work by the agreed-upon deadline. This will include:
    1. Two abstracts of journal articles of professional nature, to fit your internship, for each credit to be earned. Abstracts, which will include an overview of the article and your reaction to it, will be from professional magazines and journals, not newspapers or news magazines. Not all abstracts may come from the same journal. Abstract should average 2-3 pages.
    2. The project paper will be between 10 and 20 pages and contain three sections (below) including the abstracts.
      1. Overview of what you did during internship, using notes from your log.
      2. What areas of academic training you applied to internship and what areas did you feel needed more academic background.
      3. Critical analysis of the job that you did plus comments on how well-run and effective the organization you worked for is (not to be shown to anyone but Dr. Turner).
         
  6. You should seek at least one letter of recommendation from internship organization before leaving assignment.
     
  7. All work must be typed.
     
  8. Unexcused incompletes will influence your grade.
