Westminster Choir College, with its overarching unique choral emphasis, educates students at the undergraduate and graduate levels for careers as choral conductors, singers, pianists, organists, music educators, ministers of music, and arts administrators. In support of the curriculum, Talbott Library's score and sound recording collections cover all musical styles, genres, and periods at a basic level but are concentrated more heavily in the areas of choral, vocal, keyboard, and sacred music. Of note are collected works of many individual composers, monuments of music, an extensive piano pedagogy collection, instructional material for music education in primary and intermediate schools, and holdings both broad and deep in choral music, keyboard music, and hymnals. The Library collects multiple print editions of many music titles for comparison of editing practices and multiple recordings of many titles for comparison of performance practices.
Talbott Library shares in Rider University's integrated library system (Voyager). About two-thirds of Talbott Library's materials -- approximately 40,000 items - are represented in the online catalog and are available on the Web (http://althea.rider.edu/). We are actively entering data for our extensive choral music holdings into the international choral music database, Musica (http://www.musicanet.org/). Talbott-specific holdings in Musica can be searched at http://library.rider.edu/talbott/musica.
