Major Requirements

Psychology Major (Minimum  of 37 credits)

PSY 100 Introduction to Psychology (3 cr.) 3

PSY 201 Statistics and Research Design (3 cr.)
It is recommended that you complete at least 45 credit before taking Psy-201

Required Methods Courses: Choose 1 course (4 credits) 4 Credits

It is recommended that you complete at least 60 credits before taking a methods course. Psy-201 Statistics and Research Design is a prerequisite for all  methods courses (minimum grade C). Psy-205/205L will count as a prerequisite if you have already taken it (minimum grade C)

One course from the following:

  • PSY 302 & 302L  Research Methods: Cognition with Lab (4 credits)
  • PSY 303 & 303L  Research Methods: Social Psychology with Lab (4 credits)  
  • PSY 335 & 335L  Research Methods: Human Cognitive Neuroscience with Lab (4 credits)
  • PSY 336 & 336L  Research Methods: Animal Learning and Behavior with Lab (4 credits)
  • PSY 340 & 340L  Research Methods: Group Dynamics with Lab (4 credits)
  • PSY 350 & 350L  Research Methods: Developmental Psychology with  Lab (4 credits)

To count toward the Capstone Requirement the option you choose must  be completed during the senior year (90 credits or more). Choose ONE of the following 5 to satisfy the capstone requirement:

  • EDU 465 Student Teaching and Seminar (12 credits)
  • PSY 491 Internship in Psychology (3 or 4 credits)

Foundations of Psychology

  • PSY 400 Senior Seminar in Psychology (3 cr.)
  • PSY 420 History of Psychology (3 cr.)
  • PSY 490 Independent Research and Study (3 or 4 credits)

 


Important Notes

  • The elective PSY 295 Directed Study in Psychology does not satisfy requirements for the major.
