Financial Aid FAQs

Who is eligible for financial aid?
Students who have successfully completed an AA at Burlington County College and have been admitted to the Rider University Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree program at the Burlington County College Mt. Laurel Campus are eligible to apply for financial aid.  Students must also be enrolled for at least 6 credits during the term for which they desire financial aid.

What types of financial aid are available for eligible students taking at least 6 credits per term?
In addition to Federal Stafford Loan and/or Federal Pell Grant, there may be other financial aid opportunities depending on the number of credits being taken and family/personal financial circumstances.

How do I apply for financial aid?
Each year you must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and send it to the Federal L.C. Processor.  This application must be re-filed for each academic year.  (January 1st is the earliest a student can file preceding the beginning of an academic year.)  If you file via standard mail, the response time will be approximately 6 weeks.  Online filing is recommended and will reduce the response time to 3 weeks.  (www.rider.edu/sfs

In order to be considered for all forms of Student Financial Aid, students must have their FAFSA received no later than Rider University’s March 1st priority deadline.  Be sure to specify Rider University as the recipient school.  Rider University’s Federal Code is 002628.

What happens next?
You will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) from the Federal Student Aid Program, which outlines all the information you submitted earlier.  If any of the information is incomplete or listed incorrectly, you will have an opportunity to correct it and return it to the Federal L.C. Processor.  Rider University’s Student Financial Services office will automatically receive a copy of your SAR in approximately 2 weeks.

Upon receipt of a complete and correct SAR and other pertient information, the Student Financial Services office will estimate your eligibilty and financial aid package.

Is there anything else I need to know?
Yes. After you receive a financial aid award, the Student Financial Services office will request verification of first-time applicants’ information.  Verification is a process of checking for accuracy of your FAFSA. A copy of your signed federal tax return and W-2 forms will be requested along with a verification worksheet provided by the Student Financial Services office.

If I have already submitted my FAFSA as a Burlington County College Student and I am now starting the Rider University Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration, what should I do to be eligible for financial aid at Rider University?
You must revise your SAR to provide Rider University as a receipt institution.  (Rider University’s code is 002628.)  This can be done online at www.rider.edu/sfs or by calling the Federal Student Aid Hotline at 1-800-4FED-AID.

I have not completed my AA at Burlington County College, but I want to start taking Rider University courses, what will happen to my financial aid?  You may be eligible for financial aid through Burlington County College, but you will not be eligible through Rider University until you have completed your AA at Burlington County College.  You will be responsible for all Rider University tuition and fee costs.  Only those students who have completed their AA will be eligible for financial aid through Rider University.

May I contact a financial aid counselor if have additional questions?
Yes you may contact student financial services, 609-896-5360 and speak to a financial aid advisor.
