Undeclared Majors

Choosing a major is not always an easy task.  At Rider, we realize that this is one of the most important decisions you will make and can potentially affect the rest of your life.  Therefore, we’ve made a variety of resources available to assist and guide you as you explore the vast array of programs Rider has to offer.

Advisors
One of your most valuable resources—and every student gets one!  Your advisor can help guide you in selecting a major and in other academic endeavors. 

Faculty
Faculty from all departments are ready, willing and available to talk to you about your programs and assist you in planning an appropriate course of study.

Chairs & Academic Deans
Chairs and Academic Deans possess a wealth of knowledge when it comes to questions about specific programs and general information about the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

New Student Resource Center
The New Student Resource Center is committed to helping new students throughout their first year at Rider. Your one-stop shop for answers to almost all of your academic questions. Plus, you can also get your academic course checklists for all majors.

Departmental Handbooks
Your go-to information source about specific academic programs.  Includes an overview of the programs, requirements and faculty of all departments. 

Academic Catalog
Be sure to check this out when you’re deciding on a major or minor.  In one volume, it provides the requirements and course descriptions for every major/minor offered at the University.

Library
While the Library serves as a valuable resource for academic research by providing numerous databases, indexes available online, periodicals in print and in electronic formats, etc., it can also assist students in exploring majors and career options.

Core Curriculum
Think of it as an academic sampler.  The Core Curriculum is designed to provide an integrated approach to the study of the liberal arts and provides a unique opportunity for you to sample courses in a wide variety of areas while fulfilling your requirements for graduation.

Office of Career Services
It’s the mecca of all things career related.  Stop in and check out all the resources that are available.

Student Organizations & Clubs
Participating in special interest organizations, clubs and activities is a fun way to learn more about a particular program while you’re sharpening your organizational, professional, and social skills.

Career Day
Here’s your opportunity to speak with representatives from different companies to discuss career options and the skills and qualifications they’re seeking in prospective employees.

Career Panels
Career Panels, presented in different areas, provide an excellent opportunity to talk with professionals about their careers and to learn how Rider has been instrumental in helping them achieve their career goals.

Internships & Experiential Learning Opportunities
A wide array of credit and non-credit internship and experiential learning opportunities are available to juniors and seniors.  These opportunities are an excellent way to gain first-hand experience working in an area that could develop into a career.
