Core Requirements
Student in the Department of Communication learn to communicate effectively in both written and oral form, and are throughly grounded in media theory, law and ethics. In addition, students select a track in their chosen field of study. A capstone course, Senior Seminar, allows students to synthesize the theoretical and practical knowledge they have acquired.
- COM 103* - Introduction to Communication Studies: Theory & Practice Fall)* - 3 credits
- COM 105 - Mass Media (Fall and Spring) - 3 credits
- COM 104 - Speech Communication (Fall and Spring) - 3 credits
- COM 107 - Persuasive Writing for the Media (Fall and Spring) - 3 credits
- COM 301 - Communication Law (Fall and Spring) - 3 credits
- COM 302 - Communication Ethics (Fall and Spring) - 3 credits
- COM 400 - Senior Seminar (Fall and Spring) - 3 credits
*Freshmen only. All other students will need to take COM 201, Communication Theory (Fall and Spring)
