CBA Student Laptop Program
Think mobility
Rider University’s College of Business Administration (CBA) requires the purchase of a laptop for ALL ACCOUNTING & CIS MAJORS (both incoming freshmen and transfer students). All other CBA students are HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to purchase a laptop, but not required. If you would like to make your purchase through one of Rider's partnerships with Dell or Apple, please see the information below. If you choose to purchase your laptop from elsewhere it is imperative that you have the Windows platform and Microsoft Office Professional 2007.
Research shows that America’s youth are stimulated and succeed more from using laptops in classrooms and by having access to these resources from anywhere. In order to encourage this growth, Rider has partnered with Dell to provide CBA students with an affordable way to purchase a top-quality laptop. This tool will truly aid students as they prepare to be competitive workers with a future employer, where using a laptop is not optional but rather a necessity. Beyond the incorporation of classroom lessons that are more practical and useful to a student’s future, students gain a richer appreciation and understanding of the curriculum by becoming more involved in the classroom; professors can structure lessons around activities that will engage students by utilizing the laptops. When students graduate and begin to work, they will have learned to integrate computers into their lives and will be capable of judging which programs would be the most efficient in a particular situation based on their Rider exposure to laptops.
The CBA Student Laptop Program, through both Dell and Apple, makes purchasing a computer more affordable!! Rider is now offering students a Dell D620 laptop and an Apple MacBook at prices below retail. Shipped accessories include a saddlebag with the Rider University logo, a security cable and a 256MB memory key. Most importantly, a four-year PC warranty through the Rider/Dell and Rider/Apple Partnership is included, which means if you have a hardware or software problem, just contact our Help Desk and you'll be back online in no time! Computrace; a recovery service that enables law enforcement to recover stolen laptops comes standard with each purchase. When your laptop is protected with this service, software installed on your laptop works behind the scenes to silently and securely contact Computrace’s Monitoring Center, and if stolen, report its’ location using any Internet connection.
Please return to this site to purchase your laptop for the Fall 2008 semester anytime after June 1, 2008.
