Despite his full-time responsibilities as Dean of the College of Liberal Arts, Education, and Sciences, Joe continues to be interested in marine environmental geology and marine pollution, particularly trace metal accumulations in marine sediments and organisms. Joe has worked on water pollution problems in Czechoslovakia, Switzerland, Iceland, Norway, and the Caribbean and has worked as a consultant for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Office of Naval Research, and the New Jersey Marine Science Consortium. Joe also has taught at the Friday Harbor Laboratory (WA), the Shoals Marine Laboratory (ME), Newfound Harbor Marine Institute (FL), the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences, and the Princeton-Penn-YBRA Geology Field Camp. Joe also is a SCUBA Divemaster.
