(Ph.D., University of California, Berkeley - 2007) teaching interests include quantitative and qualitative methods, public policy, social movements, the sociology of work, sociology of race/ethnicity, the sociology of gender, the sociology of emotions, and the sociology of care. In addition, she plans to develop a course involving students in community oriented research projects. She is currently writing a book that examines the unraveling of a coalition between the Labor and the Disability Rights movements after a successful campaign, which had a dramatic impact on long-term healthcare policy in California. Previous publications include “Invisible Labors: Caring for the Independent Person” which was published as a chapter in/ Global Woman: nannies, maids, and sex workers in the new economy/, edited by Barbara Ehrenreich and Arlie Hochschild.
