Mission

The Center for International Business (CIB) provides the essential resources necessary to enable Rider’s undergraduate and graduate business students as well as mid-career professionals in the Rider business community, to engage effectively in the global economy. Guided by the CBA’s commitment to continuous improvement, the Center is the hub for innovative, leading edge international business education programs at Rider through its management of a dynamic international business curriculum, ongoing faculty development programs, and strategic business and community outreach initiatives.

Goal

To prepare globally competent individuals who have a comprehensive and actionable set of knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to deal effectively with the cultural, economic, political, and business issues associated with international trade activities.

Objectives

  • Provide an Innovative Curriculum Design to enable students to broaden and strengthen their business knowledge with global competency
  • Conduct Faculty Development Programs through a series of workshops, guest speakers, and exchange opportunities to enable faculty to internationalize their business teaching and research initiatives
  • Increase Business and Community Outreach programs to provide international education for business students and professionals in the local business community

Rider's College of Business Administration
(CBA) provides a wide variety of international learning resources for both undergraduate and graduate business students.

  • The undergraduate International Business Major is designed to enable students in the College of Business Administration to expand the breadth and depth of their knowledge by combining international business with another business major.
  • Each year, several short-term international business study tour courses are offered to provide students with experiential learning opportunities abroad.
    • These courses include several weeks of class meetings prior to a 10-14 day excursion abroad. One or more follow-up class sessions upon the students' return enable students to debrief on their experiences and often to present their research to other students and faculty.
    • Recent study tours destinations include Argentina, Chile, China, Costa Rica, Equador and the Galapagos Islands, Iceland, and Ireland. Upcoming study tours include India, China, and Vietnam.
  • Rider offers a diverse array of study tour courses across all of its colleges that are also available to business students. For a look at the Winter 2008 courses, click here.
  • International internships provide students with a unique opportunity to learn experientially about another part of the world, while expanding their global business knowledge and skills.
  • International Business Faculty The International Business Committee represents faculty from across the CBA.  This group serves as advisors to students majoring in International Business.  Most teach in international courses , and several lead study tours to foreign countries.
