DAARSTOC (Developing Administrative Abilities and Resources Through the Synergistic Training & Organizational Competencies)

Designed to help its members improve their performance and utilize the skills necessary for being effective managers and executives

Advisor: Eugene Kutcher

Website: Visit the DAARSTOC Website

DAARSTOC is an extracurricular program designed to help students propel their careers by developing people-management skills.  Students learn to interact as bosses with subordinates through role-plays and interactive exercises that teach many interpersonal skills.  Unlike typical campus organizations, the program does not focus on outside speakers, believing that its members need to work at the skills building.

Some of the skills people learn are:

  • how to be "up front" in appropriate ways
  • awareness of nonverbal behavior
  • how to maintain a problem-solving focus.
  • public speaking
  • learning to take and give interviews
  • stress reduction techniques

Many DAARSTOC alumni have gone on to become presidents and high-level executives.  Some alumni include:

  • Senior VP of Human Resources for all six Philips companies in the US
  • Vice President of Equities at Goldman Sachs
  • Chief Financial Officer at a subsidiary of Johnson and Johnson
  • 2 alumni have achieved executive ranks at IBM

The program is very selective but is open to all full-time undergraduate students, regardless of major.  Applications are available in the CBA Dean's office.

Questions about the program should be submitted to Dr. Sandbery at 609-896-5299 or via email at sandberg@rider.edu.
